Amenities and Wellness Services

At Belmont House, you can enjoy our wide range of amenities made available to our Residents. Our beautiful and pensive chapel, sunroom with gorgeous Toronto views, plenty of comfortable seating for reading or a visit, and a well-stocked tuck shop, Belmont House makes you feel right at home with its many spaces designed for time with family and friends.

Activity Rooms

Each care floor at Belmont House is appointed with it’s own Activity Room offering space to gather, enjoy recreation programming or a cup of tea and a chat with friends.

Dining Rooms

All meals for our Long-Term Care Residents are served in well-appointed dining rooms located centrally on each care floor. We offer a choice of delicious and nutritious meals, and can accommodate individual dietary requirements, overseen by our on-staff registered dietitian.

Tuck Shop

The Belmont House Tuck Shop is a convenience store open to our Residents, Tenants and staff. It is open on weekdays and staffed by our wonderful volunteers. We offer grocery staples, as well as typical variety store type items. When the Tuck Shop is closed, a vending machine located on the west side of Belmont House offers assorted snacks and drinks.

Multi-Sensory Room

The Multi-Sensory Room is a restful and stimulating space for Residents to experience and enjoy a non-pharmacological therapeutic setting. The space offers one-on-one therapeutic recreation time for all Residents. Using a wide range of equipment such as bubble tubes, projectors with images, fiberoptic lights, aromatherapy, music and sounds, or tactile objects such as lap mats, weighted blankets, and textured items; the Multi-Sensory room (and carts for those who are unable to travel to the room itself) offers personalized stimulation.

Chapel

Belmont House has two chaplains (Ministers in the Anglican and United churches) who are responsible for the religious and spiritual care of Tenants and Residents. With the help of community clergy, they coordinate midweek communion services and masses, as well as daily morning prayers and ecumenical Sunday services. They also facilitate three memorial services a year.

The chaplains also offer spiritual care through one-to-one counselling. This ranges from assisting people to access their inner personal and spiritual resources, to providing a caring presence to those who experience anxiety, depression, loneliness, and fear in their losses as they age. They also help families and friends deal with the changes in their relative or friend.

The chaplaincy office is on the main floor across from the chapel. The telephone number is 416-964-9231, ext. 203.

Clothing Service

A variety of apparel, shoes and jewellery companies have sales in Belmont House monthly. These sales include shoes, underwear/sleepwear, jewellery, adaptive and fashion wear.

Salon / Barber Shop

Our Beauty Salon is open Monday through Friday and is staffed with trained professionals. The many services at our Salon for men and women include haircuts, sets and perms, as well as manicures and pedicures.

Outdoor Gardens

Belmont House enjoys a park-like setting, with two main gardens on the property. The first is the recently renovated Walker Wing Roof Garden. This newly landscaped garden is ideal for outdoor wandering and is fully enclosed with a safety wall and raised gardens. The two-tone stone pathway, specially designed for cognitively impaired residents, provides a circular wandering path that starts and stops in the same place. Benches and chairs have been strategically placed along the route to provide rest areas. This interactive garden provides residents with opportunities to plant their own flowers, enjoy a barbecue, or visit with friends.

The Stillman Garden is a focal point at Belmont House and can be viewed from the front entrance, dining area, and from many of the tenants’ and residents’ rooms. The garden has a variety of flowers, a water feature, and many seating areas.
