Accessibility at Belmont House

Belmont House is committed to preventing, identifying and removing barriers that may challenge an individual’s ability to receive care, access our programs and services, or to work here.

We are dedicated to improving opportunities for people with disabilities and to provide for their involvement in
helping to make Belmont House more accessible.

Please note that Belmont House abides by the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibilty for Ontarian with Disabilities Act during the recruitment and selection process for all positions. We can accommodate candidates during the recruitment and selection process including any testing component if required for all jobs posted on this website.. If you are ultimately selected for the position, accommodations can be provided if possible. Please let us know if you need assistance at any time during the recruitmen process.

BELMONT HOUSE – VISITOR INFORMATION

Wheelchair access information

All public entrances to Belmont House are accessible by wheelchair.
Wheelchair-accessible washrooms for visitors are located in the following areas:

  • Behind Reception at the main entrance to Belmont House (main Floor)
  • Near the Walker Wing entrance beside the passenger eleveators on the main floor.

Wheelchair accessible washrooms for residents and visitors are located throughout the East and West building.

The Belmont House Chapel is accessible by wheelchair on the main floor.

Elevators
Belmont House east and west building are equipped with elevators and are accessible to those in wheelchairs, as well as individuals with vision impairment (oversized buttons are imprinted with braille).

For hearing impaired

To ensure effective communication with residents and visitors who are deaf, deafened or hard-of-hearing Belmont House provides access to Pocket Talkers. Please speak with a staff member on your unit for more information.

Escorts

If you need someone to help you during your visit to Belmont House, please speak with Reception staff at the main entrance. They may be able to arrange for volunteer to assist you. Please be aware that we cannot lift you or transfer you.

Walking Aides are available upon request.
