Improved Care Equipment

No matter how comfortable your bed is, lying down for long periods of time eventually becomes tiresome. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have been able to purchase brand new electric beds that provide more comfort and control for all Residents.

Recent upgrades to each of our bathing and shower systems as well as brand new ceiling lifts to aid those who struggle getting in and out of bed on their own have also been made possible by our great community of donors.

Our nursing staff rely on specific technology to chart and make updates regarding the well-being of Residents. In 2019 generous donations allowed us to purchase new laptops for nursing staff to make the task of making quick updates possible.

“I am so pleased with mom’s electric bed, I’m glad to donate so everyone at Belmont can have one!”
– Grateful family member

The Belmont House Gardens

Together we have been able to create an oasis in our Still

man Garden Courtyard and introduce a special needs roof garden on our Dementia unit. The gardens are used by Residents, Tenants, Families, and Friends to visit, enjoy a cup of tea, and attend summer BBQs and other special events.

We are so proud of our gardens and how we can maintain them with amazing community support.

“I loved visiting my grandma and playing in the garden.” – Grateful granddaughter

Tuition Assistance Program

Through your generous donations, we have been able to subsidize training for many of our staff members to broaden their skills and continuously improve the quality of care at Belmont House. Each year, our Foundation allocates $10,000 in donations to subsidize intensive staff training. Qualified staff can receive up to $1,500 a year to help with tuition.

Alternative Therapies

Thanks to our donors, we have been able to provide our Residents with Pastoral Care, Music, Horticultural, Pet, Art, and Physical Therapy.

Each of these therapies promote and increase socialization, self-expression, non-verbal communication, relaxation, engagement, attention-span, feelings of confidence and self-worth, and overall functioning, independence, and well being.

Special Entertainment

Our residents enjoy a number of special events each year that are made possible by your generous support. One of these events is the annual performance of The Band of the Royal Regiment of Ca

nada. Residents relax in our gardens each year to enjoy the sounds of this group. Other donor-funded activities that our residents look forward to each year include our Strawberry Tea, Jazz Concerts, Smile Theatre performances, Health Arts Society of Ontario performances, day trips on the Belmont Bus, and special guest speakers.
