Long Term Care
Overview
We are a 140-bed Long Term Care home governed by a volunteer Board
of Directors, and compliant with the standards as set out by the
Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Belmont House is committed
to providing the care required by our residents to help them maintain
independence and quality of life. Residents are admitted in accordance
with the admission criteria established by Long Term Care legislation
and the physical limitations of the home. Further, short stay accommodation
is not available at Belmont House. The waiting list for
admissions is approximately 2 years.
Services provided for residents include personal care, skilled nursing
and medical care. Working with specialized health care professionals,
we provide on site physiotherapy, pharmacy services, vision, dental
and foot care. Using a multidisciplinary team approach, we consult
with the resident and/or family member to identify care needs and
to develop an individualized plan of care to meet their individualized
needs. We provide supportive and palliative care.
In our 26-bed unit for those with cognitive impairment, the focus
is on the provision of a secure and supportive living environment
with varied programs for the residents and their families.
At Belmont House we are proud of the quality of our staff and volunteers,
chosen for their competence, professional qualification, understanding
and commitment to the needs of the elderly. Orientation, education
and professional development are provided to meet the assessed needs
of staff and volunteers, and to ensure the provision of quality
service to residents in a safe and efficient manner. Together with
our residents and their families, we are committed to the provision
of a community in which people are happy to live and proud to work.
